Clinical trials and research

Clinical research plays an important role in improving the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of gynaecological cancers. Clinical trials help evaluate new approaches to treatment, surgery and monitoring, with the aim of improving patient outcomes and reducing treatment-related complications.

Dr Shaun McGrath is actively involved in several clinical trials and research projects through the Queensland Centre for Gynaecological Cancer Research (QCGC Research) at The University of Queensland.

These studies investigate a range of areas, including surgical techniques, cancer prevention, less invasive treatment approaches and improved methods of cancer detection and monitoring.

Opportunities to participate

Where a relevant clinical trial is available, Shaun will discuss the opportunity with patients who may be suitable for participation.

Each study has specific eligibility criteria, and participation is entirely voluntary. Patients considering enrolment are provided with detailed information about the study, including its potential benefits, risks and alternatives, before deciding whether to participate.

Choosing not to participate in a clinical trial will not affect the care you receive.
